Our demonstrator this month is Rick Erexson who will show us how to make a Beads of Courage bowl.
Beads of Courage is a wonderful program designed to support children
who are suffering from long-term, serious diseases who have to undergo
many medical procedures. For each procedure, the young patient is given
a bead which will eventually be strung on necklaces. The bowls
woodturners make are used to house the individual beads and necklaces.
Just one example.....Rick Erexson will certainly inspire you.........
....and the kids will smile a BIG one!

After
this meeting, we encourage y’all to make a bowl and bring it to the
March meeting. We will then take them to Hemby Children’s Hospital for
distribution to their young recipients. This is one of our Community Outreach
programs so please come to the February meeting to learn the ins and
outs of the Beads of Courage bowl so you can make them on your own.
Dues are due for 2018. If you have not yet paid, please do so as soon as practical.
Dave McKeithan, our new Treasurer, has redone the name badges. Look for an email from him explaining the new badges.
BTW, did you know we have a Facebook page?
Moe Gingerich set it up for us and we encourage y’all to post pictures
of your turnings, tips you’ve come across or questions to other
members. If you are a FB member, search for Waxhaw Woodturners. Click the ‘Join' icon and Moe will grant you (FREE!) access.
When you go to the WWT Facebook page, check out the steady rest that Joe Giannina made and posted. He has graciously donated it to the club. Many thanks, Joe.
