Demo for You. March 6, 2017- Three Piece Box

In less than two weeks we will hold our third meeting of the year.  We’ll meet at Hunter House * at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, March 6.  This month’s demo will be how to turn a three piece box.  This type of box features a central core of one type wood with top and bottom of a different, contrasting species.  Yours truly will be the demonstrator so please refrain from needless heckling.  Payments for kind and gentle comments will be considered.

As usual we will also be spotlighting our raffle and show and tell programs.  If you have anything you no longer need on your shops (tools, wood, kits, tuna recipes, etc.) please bring them to donate for the raffle. For each item you donate (up to three) we’ll present you with a free raffle ticket.  Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.  Keep in mind, the raffle is one of the key methods we use to raise funds for the club.

Bring your latest turnings for Show and Tell and let us know the backstory behind your miracle from wood.

Last meeting we challenged you to make a Beads of Courage (BoC) lidded bowl to donate to the kids at Hemby Children’s Hospital.  Many thanks to those who have already made and donated bowls.  We would really appreciate it if you bring a BoC bowl with you to the March meeting.

Oh, and here’s another challenge.  Gary Janes has stepped up and has already made three BoC bowls.

The one on the middle is made from plywood.  You are definitely going to want to know how this bowl kicked his butt.

Are you going to let Gary show you up?

I  you need details on the bowl requirements, please see http://www.beadsofcourage.org/pages/woodturners.html.

Here’s hoping we’ll see you at the March meeting.

Cheers,

jpw
